September 24, 2015
San Antonio, TX

Overview

San Antonio directors joined to observe a fireside chat with H-E-B's President and Chief Operating Officer, Craig Boyan. The story of H E B begins more than 100 years ago in a small, family owned store nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Today H E B serves families all over Texas and Mexico in 155 communities, with more than 340 stores and over 76,000 employees. They've always believed in the value of hard work and the importance of taking care of people. Their commitment to excellence has made them one of the nation's largest independently owned food retailers. Mr. Boyan and moderator, Joe McKinney, took a look at the company's success in leadership as it relates to their thoughts, actions, competition, talent development, board oversight and customer service and how HEB remains best in class.
